Previous Directors

This page is dedicated to our previous directors so we can all remember their contribution to our chorus and to thank them for their leadership and direction. 

Wayne Lackman – From September 2015 through July 2017

Wayne Lackman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and his Master of Music degree inChoral Conducting from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, studying with Maurice Skones and Richard Sparks. During the summers, he has continued study in Choral Conducting with Rod Eichenberger through Portland State University.

Mr. Lackman has been the Choral Music Director at Gig Harbor High School in Gig Harbor, Washington since 1989 where he is also the Music Coordinator for Peninsula School District. The Meistersingers, under his direction, has received superior ratings at national and international choral festivals.

Wayne Lackman has been awarded the WMEA Outstanding Music Educator Award, has been nominated for the “Golden Apple” Award for excellence in Education and has been listed multiple times in Who’s Who in American Education. In 2007, he was inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Hall Of Fame and in 2010 was honored by Rotary for “Service Above Self”.

Mr. Lackman has held several regional offices and has served two terms as an officer on the Board of Washington Music Educators’ Association. He has served as a Master Teacher for the International Center for Excellence in Education, and is an active member of MENC, and ACDA. He is frequently requested as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the Northwest.
